Confessio

Terms of Service

Last updated: July 27, 2026

Welcome to Confessio (“Confessio”, “we”, “us”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Confessio website and services (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Please read this first. Confessio is a space for reflection and prayer with an AI companion. It is not a substitute for professional medical, mental health, legal, or emergency services. If you are in crisis or may be in danger, contact your local emergency number or a crisis helpline now (for example, in the US call or text 988; internationally, findahelpline.com). Confessio is not the Sacrament of Confession, does not provide absolution, and is not a replacement for a priest, pastor, or other clergy. It offers no professional or religious authority.

1. What Confessio is

Confessio provides a warm, denomination-neutral space where you can write freely, receive gentle responses generated by artificial intelligence, read a daily verse, and optionally save verses and conversations. Responses are generated by AI and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or not suited to your situation. They are not professional advice or authoritative religious teaching. Please use your own judgment and seek qualified human help when it matters.

2. Who may use it

You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent in your country, to use the Service. If you are under that age, you may use the Service only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

3. Accounts

You can use the core of Confessio without an account. If you create one, you are responsible for the accuracy of the email you provide and for activity that occurs through your sign-in. Sign-in uses a one-time email link or Google; keep access to your email and Google account secure. You may delete your account at any time from your account settings, which permanently removes your saved data.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service for any unlawful, harmful, or abusive purpose;
  • use it to threaten, harass, or harm others, or to plan or encourage harm;
  • attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse engineer, scrape, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems;
  • misrepresent the Service’s responses as professional, medical, legal, or authoritative religious advice.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of what you write. For anonymous use, your conversation stays in your browser and is not stored by us. When you are signed in and choose to save a conversation or verse, you grant us the limited permission needed to store and display that content back to you and to operate the Service. You are responsible for the content you submit.

6. AI and third-party services

To generate responses, the messages you send are processed by our AI provider (Anthropic). Other providers help us run the Service, such as hosting, database, email delivery, sign-in, and maps. Their handling of data is described in our Privacy Policy.

7. Intellectual property

The Confessio name, design, and original content are owned by us or our licensors. Scripture quoted in the Service is from public-domain translations. You may share the daily verse; you may not copy or reuse the Service’s branding or code without permission.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI responses will be accurate or appropriate for you.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Confessio and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your reliance on AI responses. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or your mandatory statutory rights as a consumer.

10. Changes and termination

We may update these Terms from time to time; material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above. We may suspend or end the Service, or your access to it, where reasonably necessary. You may stop using the Service at any time.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Germany, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the laws of your country of residence.
